Justifying aquatic therapy in senior housing

Christine Jan 09, 2012 04:39PM CST

Our president spoke with me last night about conducting a survey or a study within our properties that will show the importance of a fitness/wellness program and facility in senior housing. They would like to look at decreased falls, decreased days in the hospital/TCU, decreased medical cost, etc. Are you aware of anything out there like this or a contact? I do not have a lot of experience in research, so any pointers would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a million things along those lines and would certainly be able to help you find what you need. Are you looking for aquatic or land-based interventions?

Both land and water based. Let me know what I can do to find these. Thanks.

These articles are all very good. I am hoping I will have a better idea as to what our president is looking for after our meeting this week. From what I understand, at the moment, is he wants to show that there is a decrease in medical expense and hospital stays for residents that live in a residence with a fitness center vs. without. He wants numbers he can give to investors. I will keep you posted.
